Visiting the Equator in Uganda

The equator passes through a number of countries and Uganda is one of them.

At the equator, the world is divided into the Northern and Southern hemisphere. The best and well known equator monument in Uganda can be explored at Kayabwe in Mpigi district a few kilometers away from Kampala, along Kampala – Masaka highway.

The equator visit is usually done as an enroute stopover to western Uganda or on a safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and other attractions situated in western and south western part of Uganda.

While at the equator, you may visit and purchase handmade craft souvenirs from the craft shops and also have a photography session at the equator monument.

A person is lighter when standing at the equator line. The weight is reduced by 3% because there is no gravitational pull.

Have a glimpse of the demonstration on the water swirls in opposite directions in the northern & southern hemispheres at the equator line.
