Detailed Itinerary – 3 Days Tanzania Budget Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport & Lake Manyara National Park

Kilimanjaro Climbing

Kilimanjaro Climbing

On the first day of your 3 Days Tanzania Safari your Jewel Safari guide will meet you at the Kilimanjaro Airport and give you a short briefing of the upcoming itinerary.

You will then drive to Lake Manyara National Park; about 2 and a half hours driving.  When you reach the Park, you will go directly to your accommodation and check in.  Lunch will be served at your accommodation.

After lunch you will have a bit of a rest and then go on an afternoon Game Drive through the park.  Many of the herds shift to the lake in the late afternoon to drink and bath before setting down for the night.

Before night fall, you will return to your accommodation and have dinner.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park & Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast on the second day of your 3 Days Tanzania Safari, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, where you will immediately begin with a Game Drive in search of the large herds of Elephants that are the highlight of this Park.  The drive from Lake Manyara to Tarangire is relatively short and even though you are officially out of the Parks, you will see some game along the way.

After your Game Drive, you will go to one of the lodges in the park for lunch and a short rest.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Ngorongoro Crater, approximately a 3 hour drive from Tarangire.  You will go directly to your accommodation, for a relaxing couple of hours.

Dinner will be at your accommodation.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Area

After an early breakfast on the last day of your 3 Days Tanzania Budget Safari, you will go to the Crater floor for a Game Drive; the early morning Game Drives can be the most successful in terms of spotting the greatest number of predators; this is when they hunt for food, in the cooler temperatures, before the sun gets too hot.  There is a tremendous number of species in the Crater to see and you encounter dozens of species in the few hours you will be roaming around.

Your accommodation will prepare a packed lunch for you, to maximize your time to search for the animals.  After a few hours, you will go up to the rim of the crater to have a totally different perspective on the Crater and its inhabitants.

When the time is right, your Jewel Safaris guide will escort you to the Kilimanjaro Airport to catch your flight.

End of your 3 Days Tanzania Safari

Information about Ngorongoro Crater Area

ngorongoroThe Ngorongoro Crater was formed by a large volcano exploding and collapsing into itself; the crater is 610 meters deep and its floor covers 260 square meters.

Here in the Ngorongoro Crater, wildlife and humans co-exist; the only conservation area in Tanzania where this has been permitted.  Cultivation is limited to a subsistence level, to protect the wildlife’s ecosystem.

Over 25,000 large animals live in the crater; including black rhino, Cape buffalo, hippos, blue wildebeest, Grant’s zebra, eland, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, waterbucks, Tanzanian cheetah, East African wild dog and African leopard.  It also has the densest known population of Maasai Lions.
