Kibale National Park ’s is located in western Uganda and occupies an area of 795 sq km. Its major attraction is the opportunity to track habituated chimps. These delightful apes, more closely related to man than any other creature on earth is simply amazing to watch as they squabble and play in the fruiting trees. This park is also home to a remarkable 13 primate species, including the localized red colobus and

L’Hoest’s monkey. A network of shady forest trails provide much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species which include the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. The elusive forest elephant move seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and half a dozen of antelope species.

 

Activities include Chimp tracking and other guided walks as well as night walks. Don’t miss the most exciting birding experience in the Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Also a field of beautiful crater lakes is available for you to see located between Fort Portal and Kibale Forest.

 

Accommodation; Bandas at the Kanyanchu visitors’ centre. There are 3 basic campsites.
