The Bwindi National Park is located in the southwest of Uganda, more than half the world’s remaining gorilla population is dwelling in Bwindi: an estimation of over 450 members. It was established in 1991 and in 1994 the park was listed among world heritage sites.
The park harbors 120 mammals species this includes rodents, bats, Lonest, red-tailed and blue monkey, olive, baboon, black and white colobus monkey, and elephants seldom seen by tourists. It’s also a home of 350 bird species include black bee, regal sunbird, western thinker bird, mountain masked palis, giant kingfisher, strange weaver, little rush warbler, crown hornbill among others, and a least 14 birds are recorded nowhere else in Uganda among them white-tailed blue flycatcher, brown necked parrot, Frazer eagle owl, white-bellied robin chat.
The name Bwindi comes from the local word Mubwindi Bwa Nyinamukari which was commonly referred to as the Mubwindi swamp in the southeast of Bwindi. It all started when parents asked for help and guidance from the swamp spirit so the spirits told the parents if they would only sacrifice their most beautiful daughter who was called Nyinamukari. After they threw the girl in water so they crossed safely to another side.When the news spread people stopped going to the swamp calling it “Mubwindi Bwa Nyinamukari”

Gorilla trekking experience

This is an experience that can never miss on your travel plan. Gorilla trekking in Uganda is one of the top African primate tracking activity with these gentle giants being the only great apes. Gorilla Habituation

Mountain gorilla habituation can be done in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bikyingi gorilla group is one of the gorilla groups that are present for a gorilla habituation experience. The group has 21 individuals and among them include 1 silverback, 2 sub-adults, 9 adult females, and 9 infant gorillas. The other group is the Bushasho gorilla group. Batwa Experience

This moment provides a genuine opportunity to experience something of traditional Batwa forest culture. The experience involves interaction like food gathering, fire lighting, dances, and folk songs among others. The Batwa cultural experience is practiced by people known as pygmies. Nature Walk
Take a beautiful walk through various trails in the forest.
