Bwindi National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, located in South-Western Uganda, occupies an area of 321 square kilometers. This ancient Rain-forest is the home to half of the world’s Mountain Gorillas. Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of these gentle giants is considered to be the most exciting wildlife encounter in Africa, and possibly, the world; humans and Gorillas share 94.8% of the same genetic makeup. This national park is home to 120 mammal species, 346 species of birds, 202 species of butterflies, 163 species of trees, 100 species of ferns, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos – many which are endangered,
The main activity in Bwindi is Gorilla Tracking. 9 groups of Mountain Gorilla families have been habituated. Only 8 tourists per Gorilla family are permitted to engage in a single day. There are 4 trailheads in Bwindi for Gorilla Tracking, which lead to other attractions such as rivers, waterfalls, swamps-all of which have a high level of wildlife concentration. Gorilla tracking Permits must be booked in advance; Jewel Safaris is happy to arrange these permits for our clients.

BUHOMA COMMUNITY BANDAS AND CAMPSITE
The Buhoma Community Bandas and Campsite is located just inside the Bwindi park entrance gate. Here Bandas, tented rooms, dormitories and self-camping are offered.
Buhoma Community Bandas and Campsite is located close to the Buhoma gate of Bwindi National Park. It is approximately 522 kms from Kampala. The Campsite is behind the park gates and there is no vehicle fee applied.
At the traffic circle in Buhoma, turn left towards Kanyantorogo. Then take another left at the next traffic circle. You will pass by the Ntumgarmo Tea Factory and through the village of Butogota. A right turn about 15 kms from Bwindi is a signal you are almost there.

MUTANDA LAKE RESORT
the Mutanda Lake Resort is on the shores of Lake Mutanda, complete with dramatic views of The Congo and Rwanda. It is the only mid-range accommodation in the area; conveniently located for following the Nkuringo and Rushaga gorilla families. All cottages are built on wooden platforms and complete with verandahs for viewing. The location of the lodge building affords one of the most beautiful views on the continent.
From Kabale, turn right at Nyakabande trading centre just before reaching Kisoro town. It is sign posted on the road…. The road turns to the left after about 2 kms. After the roundabout, turn right again; crossing the Mucha River. The Lodge is just up the road on your left.
