Uganda is endowed with nature beyond word description that most of wildlife are gazzated in different national / game parks. Uganda is blessed several game parks and are 10 in number wisely spread all over the country right from the south to the North and east to west.  With animals like; lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and others are found in Uganda and can be seen in selected Uganda’s National Parks like Queen Elizabeth national park, Kidepo valley national park, Murchison falls national park. birds in parks like Semuliki national park (the birding haven), Lake Mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth national park. plants in parks like We look at some of these Uganda’s National Parks:

  • Murchison Falls National park

The largest and the oldest park in Uganda that was gazatted I n 1952 under Murchison falls conservation area that includes Karuma and Bugungu making it cover up an area of 3,893km. sq. well known for the most aggressive but beautiful falls the Mighty Murchison falls that is grumbling on the River Nile waters. The park is also endowed with more attractions like lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, giraffes and many other animals that make your game drive so beautified. In the birds’ side, this park is also a bird watching site and birds like king fisher, egrets and so many other birds are easily seen here.

  • Kidepo valley National park.

 Located in the furthest north eastern part of Kampala at the border of Kenya and Uganda and southern Sudan and Uganda. The park covers the total land area of 1442km sq. in   districts of Kaabong, Moroto, Kotido and many others in the region. This arena of wildlife is full of natural attractions in  diversity from animals like Lions that can be easily seen here, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and all other big five in Uganda are found in this park to the mighty fastest bird the ostrich still also found in this park at the Uganda South Sudan border and so many other birds, water falls, seasonal swamps where beach is coming up, the rivers like  the Narrus river, mountains like the Morungole mountains and so many other attractions. In summary the Africa of long ago in existence in Kidepo valley national park where there in the untampered with nature in its natural form, the real definition of Africa.


  • Queen Elizabeth National park.

 ” Also known as the medley of wonders” formerly called the Kazinga national park found in the western part of Uganda in the districts of Kasese, Rubirizi and others covering the total land area of 1978kms. Sq.  This is the most visited game park in Uganda due to its richness in diversity activities include: hiking, nature walks, bird watching, launch cruises on the Kazinga Channel, lion tracking(climbing lions)at Ishasha, a visit to explosion crater as well as to the salt lake in the park lake  Katwe and  learn the process involved in salt mining. This one is found in the south western part of the country in the districts of Kisoro, Kabale and many others. It’s is at the Uganda-Rwanda border this is a home to the half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Best known for the gorilla tracking and trekking and habituation of these animals allowed too at a fee. These nearest animals to our humans with a DNA and the best moments shared with these animals can never be found elsewhere. These animals are easily found and seen in this arena of wildlife. This is a neighbor sister to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. where only you can access and seethe mountain gorillas without hustling much. The only added value here is that one can also see the golden monkeys and other beautiful primates on top of birding, mountain climbing since its at Virunga volcanoes in Rwanda implying this park is located at Uganda- Rwanda border. Try visiting it and a lot of memories will engulf in our head.

  • Rwenzori mountain national park.

Lying in the districts of Kasese, Bundibugyo, Kabarole and others in western Uganda at the Uganda- D.R. Congo border, its best known as the tallest block mountain in Africa, this park is also the best for mountain climbing with varying vegetation types, alternating altitudes, and the beautiful view of the surrounding areas like the Democratic republic of Congo. This park at its summit also has the permanent ice that makes it look even more phenomenal. This park is found in western Uganda in districts of Kiruhura, mbarara and so many more districts. It’s the nearest with about 3-3 and a half hours of drive to access it from the capital city of Uganda

  • Semuliki national park

 Found in the D.R Congo- Uganda border, this park is the home for the male and female hot springs that give you moments that can only be found here. These hot springs are formed due to the partition of the underground layers forming the smallest path for the hot substance to escape out hence bringing out hot water hence making this awesome attractive feature existent in this park. on top of this male and female hot spring that one would want to find out why it’s called so, this park is the haven of the birders. So rich in different bird species. you must have this park inclusive in your travel bucket list always. One can also see animals here like primates include are vervet monkeys, baboons elephants, buffaloes and so many others.
