Detailed Itinerary – 14 Days Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel

On arrival at the airport, and allocated Tanzania safari guide will be there to pick you up for a transfer to the hotel. Your guide will meet, greet and introduce himself to you before the start of the safari. You will be transferred to a booked hotel in Arusha town.

Day 2: Have a tour in Arusha town

After breakfast, take a city tour in Arusha. The Arusha tour is a short trip lasting only about 3 hours walking on foot with a professional tour guide. During the tour, see several sites like the Natural History Museum, monuments, local markets, and craft shops. Have lunch during the tour, a perfect opportunity to try out local foods.  After the tour, you will be transferred to the hotel in Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit Arusha National Park

The safari to Arusha National Park starts early morning therefore ensure to wake up early, have breakfast at the hotel or place of residence. Board the safari vehicle for a drive to the park taking about 1h 30 min. On arrival at the park, check-in and go for a walking safari in the park alongside a park ranger. The ranger will guide you through the rainforest to the sparkling waterfalls where you can possibly spot the colobus monkeys. Return from the nature walk and have lunch. After lunch board, the 4×4 safari vehicle for a game drives through the park trails. The game drive provides an opportunity to see a large part of the park including places like the Momella lakes and Ngurduto Crater. Some of the wildlife that can possibly be spotted on the game drive include the buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, warthog, and gazelle. The leopard and elephant are found in the park but rarely spotted.

Several bird species can also be seen during the nature walk and game drive in Arusha National Park. After the game drive, you will be driven back to Arusha with a drop-off at a hotel or place of residence.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast at the hotel, an allocated Tanzania tour guide will be at the hotel or place of residence for pick up. You will then drive to Lake Manyara National Park. On arrival at the park, you have lunch then proceed for an afternoon game drive. The park is home to the shallow soda lakes which attract a variety of wildlife species including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants. One of the unique attractions in the park includes the tree climbing lions as well as the large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. After the game drive, you transfer to the booked hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: From Lake Manyara transfer to Serengeti National Park

Start the day with breakfast then transfer to Serengeti National Park driving through the beautiful high lying farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Serengeti plains are at times referred to as endless because of the vastness of the park. Arriving at the park during lunchtime, you will proceed to the visitor center close to the Seronera lodge. From the visitor center, you start seeing wildlife and proceed for lunch. After lunch, you will later on go for an afternoon game drive around the kopjes with a number of lions. Transfer to the booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Full day experience at Serengeti National Park

Have breakfast then go for a full-day game drive in the Serengeti plains. The game drive takes you along the Sogore River circuit which twists into the plains south of the Seronera River. Since this is a water area, wildlife collects in this area to quench its thirst. Some of the wildlife animals to look out for here include lions, Thompson gazelle, topi, and cheetahs. After the morning game drive, return to the hotel for lunch or have a picnic lunch. Later in the afternoon take a game drive on the kopjes. After this evening game drive, return to a preferred accommodation facility for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast at the hotel in Serengeti, you will be transferred to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a stopover at the famous Olduvai Gorge which boasts a history dating back to the start of humanity. At the Olduvai Gorge is where anthropologists Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered skulls of the early man. By lunchtime, you will arrive at the Ngorongoro Conservation area and have lunch at a hotel. Boasting a high population of wildlife, the Ngorongoro crater offers spectacular wildlife viewing sights. Later on, you will visit Lake Magadi which is a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner that attracts the pink flamingos.

Transfer to preferred booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Have Ngorongoro Crater tour, picnic lunch, and transfer to Tarangire National Park.

After breakfast, you will head out to the beautiful Ngorongoro crater for a tour. Have a game drive in the crater then enjoy a picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool. After enjoying lunch with very spectacular views, you will then be transferred to Tarangire National Park. On arrival at the park, check-in and drive through the gigantic Baobab at the entrance, see the mischievous monkeys darting about in the shade. Continue inside the park to the Tarangire River that is lined with acacia and Baobab where wildlife cluster all day long. With the river being a collective point for most of the wildlife from the Masai steppe. Have a short game drive en-route to your booked accommodation facility for Dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Full day at Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at the hotel, head out to the park for a game drive. Some of the animals that can be spotted here include the Greater kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx, and the Ashy Starling. After the game drive, have a picnic lunch with a view of the Tarangire River, but be watchful of your food as the monkeys will roam around. In the evening have a great game viewing experience at sunset before returning late evening to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer by flight to Zanzibar

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airstrip for a flight to Zanzibar. Arriving at the beautiful Zanzibar Island, you will be transferred to a beach hotel using a private vehicle by a guide. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your beach resort enjoying the breezes of the Indian Ocean and beautiful white-sand beaches.

Day 11 – 13: Spend three whole days enjoying adventure activities at Zanzibar Island

From Day 11– 13, you will spend these three days enjoying the beauty and activities at the Zanzibar Island beaches ideal for relaxation. Here you can do as much or as little as you can depending on your interests. Some of the activities that can be done here include the optional trip to explore the old stone town, spice farm, or Jozani forest to see the colobus monkeys. Other activities include snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, or canoeing. For those who just want to relax from the wildlife tours, you can just relax and enjoy the ocean shores.

Day 14: Departure flight

On the last day of the long trip, have breakfast at the hotel then be transferred to the airport for a departure flight. Departure Airport will depend on how your flight was planned. This marks the end of the 14 days wildlife and relaxation trip very suitable for leisure vacations and honeymoon trips.

Jewel Safaris has a jewel in a female driver, Rachel My trip to Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park on 5th Jan 2024, could not have gone better. My great experience was all down to Jewel Safaris' professionalism and industry experience. The car arrived at my house on time (5 am) to pick me up for the trip. The tour guide driver, a lady named Rachel Aheebwa, was such a delight. Female tour guides drivers are so rare, so this was unexpected. But looking back at how much of a success my tour went, Rachel was the best part of the trip. Two hours into the drive, she suggested a breakfast place that turned out to serve the best coffee I'd ever taken. The small eatery happened to be ran by a lady with tourism experience of 17 years. We set off for Lake Mburo about an hour later and arrived at the park gate three hours later. Because we planned to sleep in Queen Elizabeth National Park and we still had hundreds of kilometers to cover, she made sure we wasted no time Mburo. She was always friendly and firm in her advice when it came to time keeping. We made it to our final destination before dark and had time to rest. Before going to bed, she told me, firmly that we must leave at 7 if we are to see all the animals we wanted to see. I would have loved to sleep in but she made it clear that this was not an option. I was later thankful for this. There were several tourist vehicles at the UWA offices when we arrived. After payments, all the cars left through a Northwards track but Rachel went Eastwards and in less than thirty minutes of Game driving, we hit a jack pot. We found lions on the road and I was able to take close up pictures for several minutes as she made calls to all her friends letting them know that she had found lions. By the time all the vehicles crowded around the lions, I had spend over half an an hour with them. One of the best moments of my life. Jewel safaris couldn't have chosen a better tour guide driver for me. Every thing was well planned to help me see all there was to be seen.

Murchison Falls Adventure This was my first safari adventure and it was a trip of a lifetime. The owner, Dona was very professional and helpful and made sure he understood what we wanted. The vehicle was wonderful and roomy and well kept. Our guide, Patrick made the trip exceptional. He knew the park, he knew the animals and he was a former ranger who spent years protecting the animals of that park. It was clear that the other guides respected him and Patrick was kind, funny and made sure we had a wonderful adventure. The first night, the owner called me to ask how everything was going and he messaged me after the trip to make sure we had a great time. That was above and beyond what I expected. Great company, great customer service and fantastic guide with years of experience. This is the company I would choose over and over.

Two-day trip to Lake Mburo Our two-day trip to Lake Mburo with our driver and guide Patrick was great. He delivered what we asked for, and more! Great agency We ordered the trip in 2019 to go to Uganda in April 2020. Then Covid came and the trip was postponed for 2,5 yrs and in the meantime we kept contact and When we finally could go it all went super-smooth. Well organized and very friendly personnel and a fantastic guide. Nothing went wrong during the 10 days we visited and the arrangements were spotless.
